Being a Welfare Officer, you will be responsible for Advice and leadership on employee and union or works council relations. Advises management on legal/labor law/regulatory issues and risk management. Develops operational plan for own department.

As a Welfare Officer, you will be responsible for:


  • Providing advice, counsel and leadership on employee and unions/works council relations. Advises management on legal/labour law/regulatory issues and risk management. Includes those who lead Labour Relations teams, and/or the operations for such teams. For use in Business or Shared Service teams. (Excludes HR support for hourly/non-exempt organizations)
  • Developing elaborated proposals for changing processes and procedures assessing the impact on directly related processes/functions.
  • Communicating the broader picture to the team. Use of basic influencing skills to deliver on assigned goals.
  • Providing services to the function or directly to the business.
  • Handling department work guided by procedures. Exceptional cases are resolved by choosing the right procedure.

To be successful in this role you will:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Human Resources). Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Labour Relations.
  • A degree of Master of Labour Management or Bachelor of Labour Management or B.A. (Labour Management) or M.A. (Labour Management) awarded by the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies, Chennai or by any University ; or Any Post Graduate degree in Social Work or Social Welfare or Social Dynamics with Industrial Management or Personnel Management and Industrial Relations or Allied Sociology or Labour and Social Welfare or Sociology or Social Service or Social Science or Sociology and Economics or Social Technique or Industrial Relations and Labour Welfare or Commerce (Personnel Management and Industrial Relations) or M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration) awarded by any of the Institutions recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu specified in the Annexure or the Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant ; or A degree in Bachelor of Law awarded by any University recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grants ; or
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability.
  • Adequate knowledge of Tamil and English Languages
