Principal Engineer - Electrical Life Science

Responsibilities

• Minimum of 8-15 years experience in basic and detail design and project coordination of Electrical works on Pharmaceutical, Infrastructure, and Energy Projects.
• Should be familiar with cGMP and other Pharmaceutical Design guidelines.
• Should be able to p erform electrical discipline work which involves the preparation, interpretation, or review of calculations, specifications, and electrical layout plans including lighting and grounding systems.
• Should review design documents of equipment manufacturers, and subcontractors and prepare comments & recommendations.
• Experience in preparing technical specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and vendor document reviews for various electrical equipment.
• Execution of assigned work in accordance with applicable contract procedures and client and project standards.
• Adhering to the company’s engineering procedures for design safety adopting safe attitudes towards engineering design and raising features affecting the safety and integrity of the project with appropriate authorities.
• Should have good experience in the preparation of load lists, cable /HT/LT/PCC/MCC schedules, Lighting calculations, transformers/DG/UPS, etc.
• Coordination with various stake holders like Client / various internal disciplines like projects / Piping / mechanical / architect / civil / vendors for effective engineering management
• Experience in managing a team of designers working on an area scope. Planning, Monitoring, and checking the quality of the work done by designers.
• Experience in various electrical layouts like grounding, raceways lighting, etc.
• Should have fair understanding on TIA-942B guideline.
• Should be familiar with IS/IEC/ANSI and applicable pharmaceutical standards.
• Should be able to prepare SLD, Equipment Layout as per NBC/CEIG/Electricity rule, cable tray / earthing layout, Load list with load balancing in case of power failure at one source to maintain redundancy.
• Preparation of Basis of Design & power distribution for the plant.
• Preparation of design calculations for sizing the major electrical equipment. Familiar with ETAP calculations – for Load flow, short circuit, Harmonic study, arc flash study.
• Guiding a team of designers in 2D / 3D electrical engineering, review of 3D model and review of layouts / MTOs extracted from the model.
• Should be able to do cost estimation of Electrical Package.
• Procurement activity for Electrical items covering preparation of enquiry specification, review of quotes and preparation of TR, preparation of order specifications.
• Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements and best practices within the electrical specialisation.
• Continue professional development by attendance to in and out of company technical training.
  
  

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

• B.E. / B. Tech (Electrical) with a minimum 8-15 years’ experience
• Industry Type – Life sciences / Chemical
• Experience in working with engineering consultancies and EPC companies for design & engineering is desirable.
• Should have good exposure in pharma industry guidelines such ISPE, USFDA, WHO, cGMP
• Expertise in the following is an added advantage.
• Bio-Pharmaceutical -Upstream and downstream process
• API -Synthetic and Bio Fermentation
• Formulation -Oral solid /suspension
• Fill Finish /Vaccine facility.
• Clean Utility Systems
