Responsibilities For Sales Engineer

  • As this is application‐based, capital goods industry, it is expected to understand exact need of the customer, and provide applicable-based solutions.
  • Generate lead from existing customers and new prospects, and keep the sale funnel adequately full.
  • Managing and interpreting customer requirements.
  • Calculating client quotations, persuading clients that a product or service will best satisfy their needs.
  • Negotiating tender and contract terms and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions.
  • Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts.
  • Make techno-commercial presentation on company’s solutions that would be beneficial to your client business.
  • Plan detailed presentations that show clients organization’s product info, pricing, and benefits.
  • Develop solutions for clients and successfully sell them with high hit rate.
  • Manage billing and delivery of the products and services, and payment collection.
  • Meet with clients at appointments for sales presentations.
  • Offering after-sales support services.
  • Administering client accounts.
  • Analysing costs and sales.
  • Preparing reports for head office.
  • Meeting regular sales targets.
  • Recording and maintaining client contact data.
  • Follow up on products to ensure the customer is happy.
  • Stay knowledgeable on the field’s updates in engineering and research by continuing to read and study new data, competition and environment.
  • Acquire new customers by winning them over from competitors and discovering new opportunities.
  • Supporting marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.

Qualifications For Sales Engineer

  • Willingness and ability to travel 40% to 50% of the time.
  • Creativity to approach sales and build customer relationships in ground‐breaking new ways.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Previous experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales.
  • Solid experience in your products’ industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to accurately enter data and generate reports.
  • Negotiation and social problem‐solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress sales environment and multitask.
