Roles and Responsibilities:

Maintenance:

  • Ensure that maintenance strategies align with and support the business plan.
  • Evaluate business performance metrics and execute plans and activities to close identified performance gaps.
  • Maintain accurate master data to support the maintenance strategy.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to preserve asset integrity and achieve statutory compliance.
  • Initiate engineering notifications to modify or procure plant and equipment in alignment with the business plan.
  • Drive defect and waste elimination activities on-site.
  • Investigate maintenance-related events and initiate action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Manage the portfolio of Maintenance function improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other functions and sub-functions to align activities.
  • Create the local training curriculum and apply the training governance framework for functionally-owned training.


Reliability:

  • Expertise in reliability techniques and skills to develop new reliability models
  • Study layout, installation, schematics, equipment (drawings, CAD models, technical documents) and interface with cross functional teams to understand their functionality and determine failure modes.
  • Search for and Identify correct failure data for components from various sources such as field data, historical references and data bases.
  • Work with cross functional teams to do Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Use appropriate reliability assessment tools (RBD, Event Tree Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis etc.) to predict product or system reliability.
  • Provide expert inputs for reliability demonstration tests and monitor and analyze the test results.
  • Review results and reports of reliability analyses carried out by other members of the team.
  • Analyze field failure data to update FMECA and RAM to track reliability growth.


Functional skills:

  • Translate the business plan, including its objectives, value drivers, key initiatives, and significance for the Maintenance A&I sub-function, into an actionable plan.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of the Risk Management Process for managing the effectiveness of Critical Controls.
  • Understand asset integrity principles and how they are applied within the Maintenance function.
  • Assess the impact of maintenance efforts on overall site performance.
  • Demonstrate how the Maintenance function interacts with other parts of the organization to deliver value.
  • Understand the Work Management Process and Master Data, and demonstrate their application.
  • Apply the Management of Change process effectively.
  • Understand the Corporate Alignment Planning process and its implications for maintenance budgets.
  • Demonstrate the ability to systematically identify and eliminate waste from Maintenance Processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and promote proactive defect elimination process and principles, embedding them into existing maintenance practices, systems, and documentation.
  • Quantify and communicate the broader benefits of implementing proactive defect elimination within the operation.
  • Use benchmarking processes and results to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze downtime, performance, condition, and cost data and transform it into actionable steps.

  • Proficiently use data analysis tools and systems (e.g., 1SAP, delay account systems) to gather data for analysis.
  • Frame analysis outcomes to meet communication requirements for various audiences.
  • Set and use leading key performance indicators to drive improvement in the Maintenance function.
  • Use routine work observations to drive compliance with defined standards and address performance deviations.
  • Set targets for measuring Maintenance function performance and prioritize improvement initiatives based on performance results.
  • Build compelling business cases aligned with the business objectives to gain support and resources.
  • Identify and engage with stakeholders to secure endorsement for the implementation of maintenance strategies and improvements.
  • Understand the maintenance strategy development process and its impact on equipment performance and review triggers.
  • Evaluate that Operations input, precision maintenance requirements, spares, materials, and supporting documentation are considered in strategy development.


Reliability skills:

  • Should have experience working on failure modes of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Should have thorough understanding of reliability assessment tools and techniques.
  • Experience in calculating the reliability metrics like MTBF, MTBR or MTTR etc.
  • Ability to train, mentor and control the new joiners to the team.
  • Knowledge of commercial reliability assessment software packages (like Reliasoft, Weibull++, Mini tab etc.) would be beneficial.
  • Reliability/Domain specific Reliability courses are preferred
  • Desirable certification: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
