Job Description: Senior Underwriter (US Mortgage)

Location: Pan India (Remote)

Experience: 3+ years in Mortgage Underwriting

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter specializing in US mortgage underwriting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in end-to-end underwriting processes, including live underwriting, and a comprehensive understanding of the key aspects of mortgage review, such as garnishments, gift of equity, tax forms (1040, 1065), rental income, and the 4 Cs of underwriting. This role requires strong analytical skills, thorough attention to detail, and the ability to assess creditworthiness accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Underwriting: Perform comprehensive reviews of mortgage loan applications, analyzing income, credit, and collateral data to assess loan eligibility.
• Live Underwriting: Conduct live underwriting reviews, providing immediate assessment of mortgage applications in a fast-paced environment.
• Financial Document Analysis: Review key financial documents such as Form 1040 and Form 1065 to validate applicant income, deductions, and other relevant financial information.
• Garnishment and Gift of Equity: Evaluate applications involving garnishment and assess the impact of gift of equity on loan eligibility.
• Rental Income Assessment: Analyze and validate rental income sources, calculating rental property earnings to include in total income assessment.
• 4 Cs of Underwriting: Ensure rigorous adherence to the 4 Cs (Credit, Capacity, Collateral, and Capital) for each loan application, thoroughly reviewing each criterion to establish borrower eligibility and minimize risks.
• Compliance and Regulatory Standards: Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and company policies to ensure compliance in all underwriting activities.
• Collaborative Communication: Work closely with the loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication and efficient processing of applications.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in mortgage underwriting, specifically within the US mortgage industry.
• Knowledge: Proficiency in end-to-end underwriting, garnishments, gift of equity, tax documentation (Form 1040, Form 1065), and rental income analysis.
• Skills: Strong understanding of the 4 Cs of underwriting (Credit, Capacity, Collateral, Capital).
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in analyzing financial documents and mortgage applications.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
