Position: Quality Section Incharge - Inward, Inprocess & PDI
Reporting to: Line / Plant Quality Lead
No. of Direct Reports: 6 to 10
No. of Indirect Reports: 12 to 16
Key Purpose Of The Job
The Quality Section Incharge - Inward, Inprocess & PDI is responsible to ensure Elgi quality standards are complied in areas including Inward / Inprocess / final inspections. Ensuring adequate preventive and correction action is taken at various stages in assembly / manufacturing line to contain, rectify and resolve escalated quality issues is crucial to the role holder. Additionally, the role holder works on special projects for quality improvement activities.

Indicative Tasks
Monitor and understand recurrent issues and support Production and Quality with resolution of day to day quality issues / complaints through DWM and EWM
Attend to escalated issues on a priority basis to ensure quick resolution
Direct team on appropriate steps to be taken to resolve issues and coordinate with stakeholders concerned
Ensure physical inspections, collation of photographic / video graphic evidence of quality issues highlighted as per defined SOPs / MSOPs
Review containment actions taken in production line and ensure supplier is appraised of issues and for further necessary action
Institute First-Time-Right error resolution principles and track repeat issues carefully to analyze root cause for corrective action
Attend EMS, Control Point Review, EIT Review Meeting and CFTs to track overall status of quality implementation as per Elgi guidelines
Develop Visual Standards, SOPs, MSOPs as required and address GEMBA in critical problem areas
Analyze customer complaint data logged on CCS System to predict problem areas and proactively arrive at solutions to ensure quality assurance
Monitor metrics generated by system and ensure sanctity of data and actions undertaken through the system
Analyze stratified data across lines, processes to draw informed conclusions on critical failure areas and collate a list of activities commonly prone to defaults
Use tools including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Trend Analysis, other quality tools to study type, number of projects to be undertaken internally to increase quality adherence and reduce issue recurrence
Brainstorm with team, stakeholders (Quality, Production) to prepare an appropriate plan of action for projects to be implemented and finalize on deliverables
Monitor availability of required documentation including part drawings, process flows, SOPs and ensure team prepares / updates these on periodical basis
Track action plan created for suppliers, follow-up and monitor their progress on action points, as relevant
Implement initiatives to increase testing efficiency and inspection procedures for Inprocess quality
Track status of projects undertaken for non material issues including transit time, other Non Value Adding (NVA) activities
Identify critical processes frequently prone to quality issues, conduct RCA, remedial workshop to increase supply potential and performance
Provide inputs, feedback to ME on process, tooling and engineering related initiatives and projects
Collaborate with stakeholders for requirements of specialized audits regularly, define process and procedures for conducting the same to ensure compliance with Elgi quality standards as well as statutory regulations
Coordinate with various functions (Production, Quality, IT, others) to implement IT systems to log and track customer complaints (for example, enabling centralization for quicker resolution)
Guide team in implementing new audit processes in compliance to guidelines
Ensure audit observations are documented in defined formats including QMS documentation including SOPs, MSOPs, Manuals and PDI checklist, etc and are up-to-date
Conduct random audits of processes followed, specialized audits to monitor quality assurance activities
Provide inputs, training, instructions on quality issues, implementation of resolution, ISO standards and oters, as required
Provide inputs for training material, standardize content, as necessary
Monitor and ensure training is provided to all targeted beneficiaries as per plan
Plan, manage allocation of work among team members
Provide inputs and On-the-job training (OJT) to team, blue collar employees on SOPs, MSOPs and relevant documentation processes
Conduct training regularly to educate quality inspectors / production associates to appraise them of latest developments and possible issues in quality (for example, supplier quality)
Train team to develop multi-skilling across various testing / inspection activities required for quality control / assurance across categories of components / production or assembly line
Motivate team to follow quality process to achieve higher quality standards and achieve error reduction targets

- Graduate degree in Engineering
- Certifications in Quality concepts / tools
- Experience of 6 to 8 years in quality function, from manufacturing sector
- Should possess experience in ISO environment
- Should possess knowledge of quality standards and testing procedures
- Responsible to achieve set targets, implement defined quality objectives for the section and ensure resolution of quality issues
- Conduct studies on quality issues, guide team on process improvements, undertake projects as necessary to reduce / eliminate customer complaints and improve product quality standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization for implementation of special projects, initiatives to resolve long standing quality issues
- Ensure quality audits, training is carried out to achieve higher standards in quality
- Responsible for managing the quality team
