FactSet is focused on innovating the foundation of FactSet’s product offering. This process contains applications like Office Integration, Screen On, Company & Security Analytics, Industry and Markets, Filings, Ownership, Research, News, Platform and Charting. Our process closely partners with the Content verticals on strategy for FactSet Web, Mobile, and much of FactSet’s content offering.

Since our inception, our product developers have been responsible for driving the delivery of products that supply financial data, analytics, and trading solutions for thousands of financial professionals around the globe. We are a high performing teams of product developers who are excited about our product vision to help our clients meet their evolving needs in FY24 and beyond. Within the Product Development team, the Associate Product Specialist will interact with multiple groups at FactSet to analyze, test, support and develop FactSet’s Office Integration products. The position is perfect for a candidate who comes with a creative mindset and enjoys working with financial data and can collaborate across multiple groups at FactSet.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gains a deep understanding of our users, products, markets, and competitors to advocate for an exceptional user experience.
  • Proficiently troubleshoots and tests our products, acquiring expertise on their quality and subtleties. Recognizes and addresses primary issues, occasionally seeking guidance.
  • Actively participates in support calls with users to resolve intricate issues.
  • Translates user needs and challenges into product requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of resources like product guides and in-app help, empowering users to self-assist without involving support or engineers.
  • Ensures support materials remain up to date, aligning with product launches under the guidance of the product team.
  • Identifies and efficiently communicates pertinent information.
  • Clearly communicates software bugs or issues to relevant teams, offering impact assessments and potential workarounds.
  • Escalates issues to the Engineering, Product, or Content teams as needed.
  • Collaborates with team to manage and prioritize testing, support, and other product-related activities.
  • Demonstrates self-organization and independence in managing the workload, reaching out for guidance when necessary.
  • Be part of a Scrum team and collaborate with stakeholders to create, analyze and present user stories and related documentation.
  • Create and monitor client usage, and provide insights on user behaviors.
  • Assist in Quality Assurance and participate in new feature testing and development.
  • Manage and track our backlog pertaining to application bugs, questions, and enhancements.
  • Provide ideas for the process, output, and application improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge or experience with financial platforms including CapIQ, Thomson Reuters, Refinitiv, Datastream, Bloomberg, Senteio, AlphaSense and/or BamSEC (the more, the better) - preferred
  • Knowledge on financials terms used in financial markets is highly desirable e.g. expertise in Excel financial modelling - preferred
  • Technical specification writing or maintenance experience of tools, enhancements, and products. - preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field (e.g., B.Com, B.Sc, BE/B.Tech, MBA, etc.).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience, ideally at a financial institution e.g. investment bank, corporate finance, buyside institutions.
  • Demonstrates a blend of analytical skills and creativity to solve problems, with occasional managerial oversight.
  • Continuously develops understanding and empathy for target personas and their issues, exploring existing market solutions.
  • Grasps the user needs addressed by products or features and aligns them with the overall product strategy.
  • Provides support to the Product Owner within the team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a structured and impactful manner.
  • Capable of effective communication with a variety of stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Support, and Clients.
  • Attention to detail with a strategic perspective.
  • Proficiency in any Object-Oriented Programming language.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.
  • Technical specification writing or maintenance experience of tools, enhancements, and products.
