Assistant Manager - FEA, BMH, GBP,SVS

Introduction

We are seeking a highly skilled FEA Engineer to join our global engineering team, focusing on the structural analysis of bulk material handling equipment (BMH) such as

• Apron feeders,
• Rail Car handling equipment (Wagon Tippler, Car dumper etc.)
• Stock yard handling equipment & Port handling equipment

In this role, you will use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to both design new equipment and assess the structural integrity of existing equipment, including modifications, breakdowns, repairs, and upgrades.

The candidate will be part of the Grinding Bulk Pyro (GBP) Servies (SVS) Engineering Team based in Vadodara, Gujarat, supporting multiple bulk material handling projects. The successful candidate must be proactive and able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, but also in a team orientated environment. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

What You’ll Do

• Structural Load Analysis: Review and analyze specifications, proposals, and sales orders to define structural concepts and develop comprehensive structural design load reports.
• FEA & Structural Integrity: Perform advanced FEA for complex bulk material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with global (including American, Australian, Canadian, Chinese, European, Indian, South African, etc.) standards.
• Structural Verifications & Surveys: Conduct structural assessments and surveys for existing equipment, including breakdowns, modifications, upgrades, and retrofits, providing detailed reports on structural integrity and recommendations for repair or improvement.
• Structural Analysis: Execute structural analysis including static, dynamic, buckling, modal, frequency-response, random-vibration, and fatigue analysis to ensure the durability and reliability of equipment under various operational conditions.
• Structural Problem Solving: Develop solutions for structural challenges, including vibration issues, support structures, lifting mechanisms, and retrofit applications. Correlate FEA results with real-world testing.
• Global Collaboration: Collaborate with global engineering teams and clients to convert technical problem statements into actionable FEA models, presenting your findings and solutions effectively.
• Design Calculations & Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design calculations, material quantity estimates, and maintain accurate technical records for both new designs and existing equipment assessments and present to global stakeholders.
  
  
  

Who You Are.

• Bachelor / master’s in mechanical engineering (full-time degree).
• 10 -12 years of extensive experience in FEA applied to mechanical and structural components in the bulk material handling equipment for mining industry.
• Expertise in FEA fundamentals, including strength of materials, structural dynamics, and the ability to correlate simulation results with real-world tests, especially for dynamic scenarios like vibration and fatigue.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy advanced structural analysis methodologies, particularly in complex engineering projects.
• Experience with hand calculations and their correlation to simulation and test data.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate engineering challenges into actionable FEA models.
• Competent problem solver with sound understanding of engineering principles.
• Proficiency in CAE software such as ANSYS, STAAD, ABAQUS, Hyper Mesh / HyperView, Nastran/Opti-Struct, FEMAP and FEsafe.
• Working knowledge on CAD tools like Inventor, Solid Works, NX, etc. is good to have.
• Working Knowledge on Autodesk EDM Vault Solutions, SAP, Enovia or any PDM, PLM preferred.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
